We, parents want our kids to succeed: we are afraid of failure at school, failure in general.
We try our best to support them and for single parents it is more critical as we want to have our kids succeed while compensating the absence of the other parent.
Single parents do not have enough time, we are alone to take care of every aspect of the life of our family and for sure we need shortcuts like ready to use advises, tools, strategies to facilitate our decision-making .
It is not enough to send them at school or hire tutors, we should act ourselves as our kids trust us more than anybody: it is our mission, our goal.
To achieve that goal, we need to be strategic.
Here is the ultimate roadmap that will help you drive your child’s success in learning. Use this roadmap and the associated tools to develop an effective strategy for your child’s success in learning. This roadmap will enable you to save time and be efficient in your supporting role as parent for your child’s learning.
- Step 1 – Understand your child’s strength and weaknesses: It is critical to understand the areas where your child performs better or that he/she likes as well as what he/she does not like in terms of learning.
- Step 2 – Identify your child’s preferred learning style: use this checklist. Learning styles influence the way your child understands information and solves problems. Success in learning is highly dependent of your child’s ability to absorb, process, and retain information. Knowing your child’s learning style is therefore critical (here are 2 reasons why it is important to know your child’s learning style) to better support your kid and ensure success in learning.
- Step 3 – Adjust the learning approach strategy to make the most of your child’s learning style: use this infographic. It is critical to understand how your child’s preferred learning style works to better scale the learning strategy to his/her strengths and weaknesses and therefore to better support your kid’s learning(here is how to make the most of your child’s preferred learning style).
- Step 4 – Practice your strategy: Practice and repetition are powerful tools. Do not expect to get the results right away, once you have defined a learning approach strategy, allow time to get results.
- Step 5 – Continuously assess and improve your learning approach strategy: It is important to regularly check your strategy against the progress made and assess if you are achieving your goals. If not, identify issues and address them to improve your learning approach strategy.
